Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Design USA →
I visited the Cooper Hewit National Design Museum to visit to check out the Design USA: Contemporary Innovation exhibit. Some incredible advances have been made in the last ten years in craft, architecture, technology and fashion that we often take for granted. (e.g.: of about 100 things on display, four of them were office chairs??) The best part was striking up a convo with the security guard...

“Fun” Fact: Last Monday in Jan. is the Most... →
On Monday I was in a BAD mood. May have been that my plane was delayed 6 hours, getting me in to LGA at 2 a.m. and then almost straight to work at 6 a.m. May have been the crazy sideways rain and wind that nearly knocked me off my feet. Or, maybe its because the last Monday in January is known as the most depressing day of the year. Knowing that, I feel better already!

Prop 8 is simply unconstitutional →
“Our gay and lesbian friends and neighbors are entitled to respect for their private lives, and the state cannot demean their existence, even by majority vote. Seven out of 10 Americans supported laws banning interracial marriage at the time our president’s black father and white mother married.”

"Elf"
SANTA: I've been to New York thousands of times.
BUDDIE: Really? What's it like?
SANTA: Well, there are some things you should know. First off, when you see gum on the street, don't eat it. It's not free candy.
BUDDIE: Oh.
SANTA: Second - there are, like, 30 Ray's Pizzas. They all claim to be the "original," but the real one's on 11th. And if you see a sign that says "peep show," that doesn't mean that they're letting you look at presents before Christmas.

D.C. Council Approves Gay Marriage  →
Still amazed this didn’t happen in New York, but way to go DC!! I’m all about people voicing their own opinion, but this part I just don’t get …. “In November, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington said that if the law passed, the church might have to limit its social service programs that help residents with adoption, homelessness and health care.”

Tiniest Apartment in Manattan? Not Mine! →
A friend sent me this article about a New York couple who owns the smallest apartment in Manhattan - 150 sq feet! He thought of me because he’s had the pleasure of staying in my tiny Manhattan apartment. I prefer the word cozy, but to each his own. (My mom also sent me the same story a while back, making this extra post-worthy). Tiny or not, every day I’m glad I get to share 750...

NPR - The Decade's 50 Most Important Recordings →
Important post on NPRs Website re: discussion about this list. Interesting! I feel bad for many of the commenters here. They’ve forgotten to read the first two paragraphs of this article. This list consists of artists and albums that brought about CHANGE in music this decade. I find that MANY if not MOST of these albums are indeed ENORMOUS game-changers. Whether you’ll find some of...

2009 Finalists: America's Best Young Entrepreneurs →
I was combing through BusinessWeek yesterday, and came a across a picture of an old friend. Ok, thats a lie — my roomie passed me a link to this article and said friend happens to be the one “not pictured,” but him and his three business partners were named in BusinessWeek’s “Twenty-Five U.S. Entrepreneurs Ages 25 and Under.” Kind of makes me realize how...
